The Rookies

The Rookies came to Envy Labs looking to completely redo their website.

The Rookies is a community for digital artists in the making, only students and non-professionals are allowed. They host multiple contests each year for artists to win prizes, but are best known for The Rookie Awards every spring.

I worked alongside Envy Labs' Creative Director to first design the wireframes and then the full site.

Hands became a major theme, stemming from the idea of this being a platform to lend a “helping hand” to new students in the Rookies community.

Users are also able to “high five” each other on their projects (similar to a “like”).

I worked closely with our back-end and front-end developers to make
sure the design and development came together harmoniously.

The Rookies is a very robust platform, allowing users to create profiles and upload projects to essentially have their own portfolio site while they work towards becoming professionals.

It also includes a separate portal for judges to use during contests.

This was an incredible learning experience, I loved being able to create something for the global art
and design community, and the clients were so happy with the result. It was truly a team effort.
